I talked with a reader of mine that has such a bad dental phobia that they are 39 and have not gone to the dentist since they were 17. (Don’t worry, they gave me permission to post this). I guess they are so scared that when their hear the word dentist is makes them cringe. It was also reported that they got scared when the followed some of our recommendations. Specifically the one about getting a sonicare toothbrush. They said that the sound and feeling of the electric toothbrush was enough to bring back memories of going to the dentist as a child. Needless to say, they switched back to a manual toothbrush right away.
If this is you or you are in a similiar situation then we suggest that you get some type of professional help for your phobia. It is not normal or healthy and you need to visit the dentist as a normal part of your healthy life. After all it has been proven that improper oral care can lead to a higher risk for heart disease and diabetes.
